Technology by Fields - Master of Orion 2 - Microprose
For the first entry in each list, all technologies will be researched, regardless of racial attributes. Advances in bold can also be gained by hiring specific leaders, immediately they become available. When you defeat the Guardian at Orion, you acquire four super high technology advances, also if you have a free military leader slot, you find a new leader with extremely good abilities. It is always a good idea to keep one leadership slot free, in colony and military spheres, as you can only hire leaders if you have a free slot, and as they get better over time. Also they may bring new highly advanced technology which them, which you can then trade, sometimes gaining as many as a dozen new technologies in the process. This is due to an avalanche effect where by you trade the technology for other high technology advances, which can be re-traded to other players. When trading always pick the most advanced technology first ie. the one lowest down the list required most research points, as these are in most
demand by other players.
