"In 1973, Israel was surprise attacked by the combined armies of Egypt and Syria. The subsequent fighting was called by the Israelis and the world the 'Yom Kipur War'. On the other hand, the arabs call it the 'October War', because it was in this month and, for them, the jewish holyday of Yom Kipur means nothing."

The Balfour Declaration (dated 2 November 1917) was a letter from the United Kingdom's Foreign Secretary Arthur James Balfour to Baron Rothschild (Walter Rothschild, 2nd Baron Rothschild), a leader of the British Jewish community, for transmission to the Zionist Federation of Great Britain and Ireland.

"His Majesty's government view with favour the establishment in Palestine of a national home for the Jewish people, and will use their best endeavours to facilitate the achievement of this object, it being clearly understood that nothing shall be done which may prejudice the civil and religious rights of existing non-Jewish communities in Palestine, or the rights and political status enjoyed by Jews in any other country."

As soon as the Turks had been defeated by General Allenby, and the Balfour Declarion had been made with the help of Chaim Weizmann in Britain. One of the main proponents of a Jewish homeland in Palestine [Zionism].

David Ben-Gurion, founded Kibbutz including 3 just North of the Palestian Medditeranian Port and Commerical Capital: Jaffa. They became the Israeli City of Tel Aviv.

Following the adoption of a resolution by the General Assembly of the United Nations on 29 November 1947 recommending the adoption and implementation of the United Nations partition plan to replace the British Mandate for Palestine, on 14 May 1948 David Ben-Gurion, the Executive Head of the World Zionist Organization and president of the Jewish Agency for Palestine, declared the establishment of a Jewish state in Eretz Israel, to be known as the State of Israel, a state independent from the British Mandate for Palestine. Neighboring Arab states invaded the next day in support of the Palestinian Arabs. Israel has since fought several wars with neighboring Arab states, in the course of which it has occupied the West Bank, Sinai Peninsula, Gaza Strip and the Golan Heights. Portions of these territories, including east Jerusalem, have been annexed by Israel, but the border with the neighboring West Bank has not yet been permanently defined. [neutrality is disputed]

Haganah (Hebrew: "The Defense", ????? HaHagana) was a Jewish paramilitary organization in what was then the British Mandate of Palestine from 1920 to 1948, which later became the core of the Israel Defense Forces.

The Haganah Hung a British Sergant, and blow up a Hotel with British Officers and Men in it.

Famous members of the Haganah included Yitzhak Rabin, Ariel Sharon, Rehavam Ze'evi, Dov Hoz, Moshe Dayan, Yigal Allon and Dr. Ruth Westheimer.

War of Israeli Independence - 1948
The British Mandate forces withdrew from Palestine after a UN vote in favour of the State of Israel. The United States, and Soviet Union voted in favour; but the British Empire Abstained. Other countries swung the vote in Israel's favour. Many British Troops withdrew in Sadness and Shame at abandoning the Palestinian People.
Six Day War - 5 June 1967
Israel succeeded in capturing the West Bank, the Gaza Strip, Sinai Peninsula and the Golan Heights. Jerusalem's boundaries were enlarged, incorporating East Jerusalem, and the 1949 Green Line became the administrative boundary between Israel and the occupied territories.
Yom Kippur War - 1973
On 6 October 1973, as Jews were observing Yom Kippur, the Egyptian and Syrian armies launched a surprise attack against Israel. The war ended on 26 October with Israel successfully repelling Egyptian and Syrian forces but suffering significant losses.[107] An internal inquiry exonerated the government of responsibility for failures before and during the war, but public anger forced Prime Minister Golda Meir to resign.
Sadat and Menachem Begin signed the Camp David Accords (1978) and the Israel�Egypt Peace Treaty (1979).
Second Lebanon War In July 2006, a Hezbollah artillery assault on Israel's northern border communities and a cross-border abduction of two Israeli soldiers precipitated the month-long Second Lebanon War. Hezbollah have withdrawn from the Israeli Northern boarder, and been replaced by UN observers.

Israel has signed peace treaties with Egypt and Jordan, but efforts to resolve the Israeli�Palestinian conflict have so far not resulted in peace.

The Jews are on the whole an Intelligent, and Imaginative People; because of Millenia of Studying Scripture which has made them highly literate.

The historic land of Israel, or the land of Cannan (after one of Noah's Sons) does not include The Golan Heights, or Gaza (home of the Philistines, with city walls). The Golan Heights is required for defence.

Israel is surrounded by four countries. If in danger it can call on the help of the United states Fleet; made up of Aircraft Carries, Battleships, and AEGIS Cruisers.

The United States Aircraft Carriers can last for 5-7 years. Beyond that Oil may have become exorbitantly expensive. Half Israel's Income comes as a grant from the United States of America.
